Performance Test Engineer

The Performance Test Engineer will be responsible for planning and coordinating the performance testing of various software applications. The position holder shall be able to give advice related to different scenarios and also actively work with improvements within own area. The Performance Test Engineer will work together with other testing and development teams to improve the quality of software applications.

Roles and responsibilities:

Liaise with design, development, Operations and test teams (Product Manager, Project Manager, Technical Architect, Operations and Developer) to understand the system under test
Liaise with Operations and Development to understand the business requirements and translate them into performance test requirements
Understand the design and deployment architecture of the applications
Understand the limitations of the test environment and design the various scenarios required to test the requirements
Create detailed test plan highlighting the scenarios, test data requirements, environment requirements and test execution schedule
Create / update / administrate automated scripts using HP-Mercury Load Runner
Liaise with Project Managers, Architects, Operations and Environment specialists to execute the tests.
Perform post-test analysis to identify performance issues and bottlenecks. Here you will need to monitor OS system resources, database, network and application response times at different layers
Produce test execution report – detailed and high level
Give your expert advise in go-live decision making to Project Managers, Development Managers, Operations and Architects


Up to 3years experience. BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline required
Knowledge of databases RDBMS preferable Oracle / SQL – minimum 1 year
Platform architecture
- Operating systems (UNIX: HPUX, Solaris & Windows) – minimum 1 year
- Middleware (Tuxedo - transaction oriented middleware platform / Weblogic - J2EE enterprise infrastructure platform) – minimum 1 year

Experience with Automation tools HP - Mercury Load Runner – minimum 2 years
(Create / update / administrate automated scripts using HP-Mercury Load Runner)
Programming (J2EE) / Scripting (shell, Perl) – general knowledge - an asset but in general automation is done in the mentioned Automation tools
Ability to write test documentation -Test analysis, Test Specification, and Test Reports - based upon customer’s requirements / solution design documents
Industry knowledge - testing and / or troubleshooting software in general, data bases, and web applications, programming – 4 years
Testing methodology – SDLC, V-model
Ability to interact with a multi-location team regarding test status and defect tracking
Ability to develop and maintain automated tests, simulators, GUI frameworks and log parsers to verify requirements compliance and fault isolation to correctly determine cause of test failures
Fluent in English - Good communication skills, both oral and written. Must be easy to understand
Dynamic personality with ability to cope up in an environment where scope of work and priority is dynamic
Ability to think out of the box
Experience of carrying out performance testing and / or tuning end to end, right from identifying the requirements to doing analysis of performance bottlenecks
